Dogs Dig "The Route" at The Rally
You could tell at a glance and hear the laughter: Everyone was having a great time! The 2009 Rally, held this year in historic Albuquerque New Mexico, hosted its Annual Dog Show. Gene Tuttle, the Event Director and Robin Dickinson, Master of Ceremonies and President of Dogs for the Deaf, the Official Good Sam Charity, came up with amazing contests.
These included such activities as Doggie Musical Chairs, Find the Treat Relay, Best Howl and Double Vision. The stage was at moments almost chaos from exuberant dogs working their hardest to figure it all out and what their pet parent was actually wanting them to do, but Gene and Robin moved smoothly keeping the games organized and the fun going.
A few pups experienced "stage fright" during Best Howl, but a dynamic duo "sang" their way to victory accompanied on the harmonica by their pet parent, Gary Shaprizi of Eugene Oregon.
The Historic Route 66 Costume Contest was the finale with ingenious costumes like "Corvette Dog " and the winner, "The First RV." The show was followed by a mobile adoption from the Albuquerque Animal Care Center that enabled some lucky attendees to adopt a pet. I’ll definitely put this on my "next year, let’s go" list for any pet loving RVer’s. It’s a treat!
