n 1975 Australian Shepherd Club of San Diego County (ASCSDC) became an affiliate club of the Australian Shepherd Club of America (ASCA). ASCSDC held it's first sanctioned conformation and obedience show the same year in Escondido, California. ASCSDC proudly hosts approximately ten sanctioned conformation shows and obedience trials. The club has approximately thirty members active in all areas of competition or therapy work with service dogs.
In 1981 a merit program was started, recognizing and honoring the achievements of our members and their dogs. We offer performance class awards for Aussie and Non- Aussie competitors. Adults and juniors are awarded in all areas of competition at our annual banquet.
We have a Yahoo Group e-mail list for members. The mailing list keeps club members informed of club changes, business, upcoming events, brags, show results and other pertinent club information.
Our main goal is preserving the integrity of the Australian Shepherd. We do this through education. We offer educational talks with a variety of guest speakers. We give handling clinics covering all areas of dog related activities. Also, we participate in community awareness programs.
The club takes great pride in our junior program. We feel it is our responsibility to educate and support our junior membership. After all, the juniors today are the future of the Australian Shepherd.

Canine Conservative Management-Canine Orthopedic Support.
ranial Cruciate Ligament (CCL) injuries are quite common in dogs, although you probably haven't heard of them until your pup has one and your orthopedic vet recommends surgery, as many do. CCL injuries affect the canine stifle, or knee. This group is for those, who for various reasons, are looking for alternatives to surgery. It will discuss conservative management (CM) with the purpose of sharing information, discussing works in progress, personal stories and success stories. Those with concerns about hip dysplasia (HD) and elbow dsyplasia (ED), among other orthopedic issues, are welcome as well.
We are an AKC licensed club. Our primary focus written in our Constitution:
(a) to encourage and promote quality in breeding of pure-bred Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and do everything possible to bring their natural qualities to perfection.
(b) to urge members and breeders to accept the standard of the breed as approved by the American Kennel Club as the only standard of excellence by which the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel shall be judged.
(c) to do all in its power to protect and advance the interests of the breed and to encourage sportsmanlike competition at dog shows, obedience and agility trials.
(d) to conduct sanctioned matches, specialty shows, obedience and agility trials under the rules and Regulations of the American Kennel Club.
