San Diego Dachshund Club
The San Diego Dachshund Club, a non-profit organization of more than 395 members, was founded in 1951. Membership is open to all who own or have an interest in dachshunds, and is not restricted to those living in the southern California area. The primary aims of the Club are to improve all varieties of the breed, assist owners and their dachshunds, and sponsor related activities that promote education, health, training, show competition, and dachshund rescue. With the exception of AKC competitions, San Diego Dachshund Club activities involve all dachshunds, not just those of show quality.
These activities include the annual SDDC Dachshund Specialty Shows in March, other events such as puppy matches, the annual Summer Picnic and Hallo-Wiener Picnic, the annual “Vernal EquiDox” and “Walkin’ in a Wiener Wonderland” events in Balboa Park, and several dachshund Meet the Breed presentations. All members receive a very popular newsletter containing a wide variety of information about dachshunds and Club activities. In addition, excellent dachshund-related programs are presented to those who attend the Club’s monthly meetings, normally held on the third Tuesday of each month at the Allied Gardens Recreation Center. This web site provides detailed information and a calendar of events for all of these activities, membership information, as well as Club objectives and guidelines.
