Rhodesian Ridgeback
In October 1986, Margaret Lowthian Cook and Carol Walker organized the first club function of the newly formed San Diego Rhodesian Ridgeback Club (SDRRC). The fun match was on a grassy site in Kearny Mesa. The day was clear and sunny and a buffet lunch was prepared. Everyone had a wonderful time as the club boasted 15 entries with 5 dogs in its first Parade of Champions. The goal was to bring Ridgeback owners together to become acquainted and to have fun with their dogs. Over 20 years later, this is still a primary function of the club. In addition to fun, the club also supports breed rescue, sponsors information seminars for members and guests, and promotes education to the public about our wonderful breed.
