Second Chance Dog Rescue
is one of San Diego's largest and most successful non-profit 501c3 organizations dedicated to saving homeless dogs. We rescue, rehabilitate and rehome dogs from local shelters, as well as dogs surrendered by their owners for various reasons, and dogs from Baja California, Mexico. Once we receive a dog, we provide medical care, including spay and neuter, and any necessary rehabilitation.
We have an application process for those interested in adopting one of our dogs. Upon approval of the application, the dog and the adopter enter into a two week “trial” or foster period, to make sure it’s the right fit for the family and the dog. After completion of a successful foster period, we may do a home visit before we finalize the adoption.
Second Chance Dog Rescue was founded in the fall of 2008 by Sandra D. Simpson, Jason Cordoba and Maria Blake who recognized the urgent need in our community. We pride ourselves on being a rescue group that is flexible and non-breed specific. We also have the ability to rescue senior dogs as well as those with health or medical issues. In two year’s time, Second Chance Dog Rescue has accomplished a true miracle within our community. We successfully rescued 2,000 dogs from euthanasia, placing them in loving, safe, forever homes. Many asked how this was possible. It was done utilizing a team of very dedicated volunteers who bring a wealth of experience regarding dog behaviors, business sense, use of modern technology, networking, and our philosophy of keeping the welfare of the dogs our first priority.

Animal Welfare Foundation of San Diego is a nonprofit corporation, founded with the intention of furthering in every way possible the humane care and treatment of cats, dogs, and all other animals and to control the breeding of animals through humane means.
Our primary focus is on providing financial assistance for spay and neuter surgeries for as many companion animals in San Diego County as we possibly can, and when necessary, to help provide humane means by which animals suffering from incurable infectious diseases or who are too badly injured to save can be humanely euthanized.

Cat AdopTion Service |
|
is a no-kill, volunteer organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and permanent placement of homeless cats and kittens. |
|
We have no "Main shelter"; instead, we have a network of foster homes throughout San Diego County where our cats reside when they are not at an adoption location. |
|
Some of Our Policies: |
|
Since our goal is a life-long adoption for every cat or kitten, we will annul any adoption for any reason within one week (or longer upon special agreement, such as where a slow introduction to a resident pet is involved). |
|
1. Minimum adoption fees ($60 to $200) cover the cost of basic health care and food/shelter for those relatively few healthy cats with a quick adoption time. |
|
2. Applications and Agreements are legally binding. Be honest! |
|
3. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone. |

Our mission is to give military members peace of mind concerning their pets during their service commitments by providing them with the ability to find people and resources able to help them.
Dogs on Deployment is a national 501(c)(3) non-profit providing a central network for military members to find volunteers willing to board their pets while they are deployed or have other service commitments, making them unable to temporarily care for their pets. No pet should ever be surrendered to a shelter due to a military commitment. DoD exists to help military members keep their pets by alleviating the need for pet relinquishment from military members due to the hardships of deployments.
Additionally, Dogs on Deployment promotes responsible, life-long pet ownership in the military community by:
- Advocating for military pet owner rights on military installations
- Providing educational resources for military members about responsible pet ownership
- Granting financial assistance to military members for help with their pet's care during emergencies
- Promoting healthy pet lifestyles, including spay and neuter, insurance options and vaccinations
- Connecting with community organizations to ensure Dogs on Deployment resources are available to military families

Emergency Animal Rescue (EAR) was founded in 1993. After the deadly flooding in the Tijuana River Valley, several members of a local rescue agency saw a need for a fulltime, highly trained animal rescue service in the San Diego County area. This core group, some of whom are still with the organization, spent countless hours putting together an organization that would consist of highly trained, highly skilled professional volunteers.
Slowly, but surely the word spread that there was now a highly trained animal rescue organization that was available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In early 1994, EAR responded to Los Angeles to assist in animal rescues during the Northridge earthquake. In 1996 to the severe flooding in the Conroe and Liberty areas of Texas. 2005 brought the devastating hurricanes of Katrina & Rita. Again EAR responded to help the thousands of animals trapped in their homes.
In our own area, EAR has again played a major role in saving the lives of hundreds of animals unable to help themselves during the horrific firestorms of San Diego County. Among them the Pines, Harmony Grove, Viejas, Cedar and Witch Creek \wildfires.
But Emergency Animal Rescue does more than the "High Profile" rescues. Thousands of rescues go completely unnoticed by anyone except for the animal and its owner. From the cat that's been stuck in a tree for days to the dog that has fallen down a well to the frantic homeowner that has "something" in the chimney.
